Anda Kubis’s paintings are digitally rendered in chromatic layers, extending and enriching the definitions of the medium. Works are vibrant compositions with a smooth finish, stretched on canvas or on paper.
Digital painting is the process of creating and rendering a composition with the help of digital technologies. Anda Kubis paints her work using a computer program, and then applies the digital file to a physical medium (canvas). Much like an artwork made with oils or acrylics, each painting is created stroke by stroke and built up in layers, using digital tools as brushes.

Anda Kubis is a Canadian abstract artist known for her sophisticated integration of expanded digital processes, material experimentation, and traditional oil painting. Her practice bridges contemporary abstract painting with design thinking and architectural influence, resulting in richly layered works that explore colour, form, and perception. Working across painting and digital methodologies, Kubis develops compositions that feel both intuitive and precisely constructed, inviting viewers into immersive visual fields shaped by rhythm, gesture, and atmosphere.
At the core of Kubis’s practice is a deep interest in the emotional and psychological impact of colour. Her paintings are not only visual experiences but reflections on how aesthetics and creativity contribute to human wellbeing, perception, and quality of life. This conceptual foundation gives her work a distinctive presence within contemporary Canadian abstraction, balancing sensory immediacy with thoughtful structure and material sensitivity.
Kubis holds degrees from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and York University, and her multidisciplinary background informs her cross-material approach to painting and image-making. Alongside her studio practice, she maintains a significant teaching career as faculty at OCAD University, contributing to the next generation of artists and designers.
Her work is held in numerous major public and private collections, including RBC, TD Bank, BMO, Cenovus Energy, Aimia, The Westaim Corporation, and the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development - underscoring her recognition within institutional and corporate collections across Canada.
