Celia Lees abstract works seek to capture the ephemeral – creating while living in the moment, channeling inner emotions, and seeking to portray that which cannot be articulated. Lees utilizes an abstract approach which allows her to communicate through physical gestures and instinctual mark-making. The artist works with large applications of paint and deftly balanced compositions, while embracing the chaos that occurs throughout the process.
Lees utilizes raw canvas and intuitive applications of acrylic paint, ink, and oil stick.
