Andre Petterson is a Vancouver‑based mixed‑media artist whose work blends photography, painting, and digital manipulation to capture fleeting moments of light, texture, and movement. Drawing on a lifelong engagement with photography and a rich history in visual experimentation, Petterson’s work transforms everyday motifs-floral elements, coastal landscapes, and architectural forms-into compositions that balance abstraction with representation.
Born in Rotterdam in 1950 and raised in Saskatoon, Petterson moved to Vancouver in 1970, where he began combining photographic imagery with paint and collage, exploring how digital and analog processes can coexist. His signature style reflects an ongoing fascination with light and movement, and with the ways in which photographic and painted elements interact.
Petterson’s work has been shown in both private and public galleries in Canada and the United States, and is featured in numerous corporate and institutional collections, including the Canada Council Art Bank, Canadian Airlines, Vancouver General Hospital, Duracell Canada, and Polygon Group Ltd.
