Gallery Artists | Canada Days: Celebrating the Canadian Landscape

Group Exhibition
June 18 - Aug 3, 2026
Bau-Xi Gallery | Dufferin
1384 Dufferin Street, Toronto | Upper Gallery
The Canadian landscape remains one of the most enduring and compelling subjects in Canadian art. Canada Days: Celebrating the Canadian Landscape brings together Bau-Xi artists from across the country, showcasing the many ways contemporary artists continue to engage with and reinterpret the land through their distinctive visual languages.
From coastlines and forests to mountains, lakes, and prairies, the landscapes represented in this exhibition reflect the breadth and diversity of Canada's geography. Yet rather than offering a single vision of place, the exhibition highlights a wide range of artistic approaches. Some artists work from direct observation, capturing fleeting moments of light, atmosphere, and season, while others draw upon memory, abstraction, and imagination to create deeply personal interpretations of the natural world.
Each work reveals a unique relationship to the landscape. Through colour, gesture, texture, and form, familiar environments are transformed into expressions of experience, perception, and emotion. Together, these paintings demonstrate how the landscape continues to serve as both subject and inspiration, providing artists with an ever-evolving framework for creative exploration.
Bringing together perspectives from across Canada, Canada Days: Celebrating the Canadian Landscape celebrates the strength and diversity of Bau-Xi's artists while affirming the ongoing relevance of landscape within contemporary Canadian art. The exhibition invites viewers to experience the country through many different eyes, discovering not one Canadian landscape, but many.
