Bau-Xi Vancouver is thrilled to present The Marble Mountain: Extraction and the Sublime, the inaugural solo exhibition in Vancouver by the award-winning New York based photograher Richard Barnes.

In this new series, Barnes turns his lens to the marble quarries of northern Italy, and the over two-thousand-year-long ongoing extraction of statuario, the most sought-after marble for sculpture carving. Further, he examines the development and use of robotic carving and AI modeling in the reproduction of Renaissance masterpieces and what may be gained and lost from its
