About Erin Armstrong:
Erin Armstrong is an emerging figurative artist working and living in Toronto. Using quick and decisive gestural markings over acrylic-based images, Armstrong creates unique distorted figures and portraits in an expressive dream-like world. Juxtaposing the everyday with surrealistic imaginings, Armstrong captures hidden emotions often lost in human experience. Her concern is not to recreate reality as it exists, but rather to evoke an atmosphere that transports the viewer into a world of interpretation.
Armstrong's work is collected internationally and has been exhibited extensively throughout Canada and the US as well as in England, France, Australia, Scotland, Switzerland, and Sweden.
Erin has created work for clients such as Nike, Anthropologie, General Public Art, and The Drake Hotel. Her work has been featured in Vogue, Nylon Magazine, House and Home Magazine, Domino, ShopBop, Cultured Mag, Yahoo! News, Create Mag, and others. She is currently working on two solo shows in Paris and L.A. and will soon take part in the Vermont Studio Centre Residency.
