Nicole Katsuras is a contemporary Canadian abstract painter known for her distinctive, sculptural approach to oil paint and her dynamic, expressive compositions. Katsuras creates richly layered works that sit at the intersection of painting, material experimentation, and contemporary abstraction.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, she holds a Master of Fine Arts from Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design in London, UK, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Toronto. Her practice draws on diverse art historical traditions while pushing toward a distinctly modern visual language defined by movement, texture, and emotional intensity.
Working primarily in oil paint, Katsuras is recognized for her bold extruded paint technique, building surfaces that extend beyond the canvas to create rhythm, depth, and tactile dimension. Her compositions balance spontaneity with structure, resulting in abstract works that feel both energetic and refined. The interplay of colour, form, and relief invites viewers into immersive visual environments that shift with light and perspective.
Nicole Katsuras has exhibited internationally in Toronto, London, Seoul, and Paris, with her work held in significant private and institutional collections across North America and Europe, including McCarthy Tétrault, RBC Capital Investments, Encana, Canaccord, Luciano Benetton, the Mirvish Collection, and Holt Renfrew.
