"This auction came from the desire to bring eastern awareness, support and fundraising to what many perceive as a B.C.- only problem." Scheurmann said in a statement. "Old-Growth logging affects everyone globally."
According to a statement from Scheurmann, a plein-air painter whose paintings often focus on B.C.'s forests, was inspired partly by the time he spent visiting the Ada'itsx/Fairy Creek Blockades. His time there was a "catalyst for a continuing project of advocacy and awareness in defense of these endangered ancient ecosystems," he says.
"Hosting a decentralized, online auction seemed like the most effective way to do this and now it's grown into something well beyond my expectations!"
