With an extraordinary ability to playing light, colour and movement together to document the atmosphere and landscape surrounding her Vancouver Island home, Bakes creates a world of hope and appreciation for the beauty of life.With each brush stroke, Bakes' work conveys a love of nature and an empathy for the natural world. She invites the viewer through light stippled forests, grassy fields and into the expanse of large open skies, in attempt to offer a quiet, meditative experience of connection and beauty of oneness.
