"This piece is based on an old auto repair shop in Glendale, not far from where I live in Los Angeles, a building I’d been watching for years. I was lucky to photograph it just before it was repainted a very dark green. For this image, I also chose to fold in visual motifs from earlier works - a recurring approach within the Synthetica series, where elements are reworked and carried forward to build new connections across the pictures." - George Byrne

George Byrne is an internationally recognized contemporary photographer known for his minimalist, large-scale architectural photography prints. Born in Sydney, Australia in 1976, Byrne graduated from Sydney College of the Arts in 2001. He was named Minimalist Photographer of the Year in 2020 and received recognition in the Fine Art category of the Minimalist Photography Awards in 2019. His works continue to gain global attention as timeless yet modern statements in contemporary art.
