Tom Burrows is an internationally acclaimed Canadian artist known for his luminous, minimalist works created with cast pigment polymer resin. Blending painting and sculpture, Burrows’ timeless colour field compositions explore light, depth, and surface, producing striking panels that appear to glow from within. His work is highly sought after by collectors of contemporary abstract art for its refined materiality and meditative visual impact.

Burrows studied Art History at the University of British Columbia (BA, 1967) before pursuing postgraduate studies in sculpture at St. Martin’s School of Art in London, UK. This dual foundation continues to inform his practice, where technical precision meets conceptual exploration.

With a career spanning over five decades, Burrows has exhibited internationally, with solo exhibitions in major art centres including London, Tokyo, Berlin, New York, and throughout Canada. In 2015, a major 50-year survey of his work was presented at the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery, affirming his important contribution to contemporary Canadian art.

His works are held in prominent private, corporate, and public collections across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Notably, his resin pieces have been acquired for prestigious collections such as Canada House in London’s Trafalgar Square and the HBC Global Art Collection in New York.

Working between Hornby Island and Vancouver, Burrows continues to push the boundaries of colour, light, and material. Panels are presented unframed due to their sculptural quality.
