Artist Talk: Janna Watson at Bau-Xi Gallery | Dufferin
Join us on Saturday, June 22nd from 3:00 - 5:00 pm at 1384 Dufferin Street for an artist talk with Toronto-based artist Janna Watson, hosted by Kyle Matuzewiski, the Co-Director of Bau-Xi Gallery. Guests will be treated to an in-depth conversation with the artist about her ever-evolving practice.
Watson holds an honours degree in Drawing and Painting from the Ontario College of Art and Design and has exhibited extensively across Canada and internationally in more than 30 solo exhibitions.
The artist's compelling abstract compositions use colour, line, and variegated brushstrokes to evoke emotion in the viewer. Her works possess an elegant and powerful yet light-hearted energy, created with a carefully balanced pairing of loose painting and gestural mark-making. They are honest, confident and evocative portraits of colour, texture, space, and movement.
Watson’s paintings circulate regularly at international fairs, including the Toronto International Art Fair, CONTEXT Art Miami, and in Seattle, where they were featured by Artsy in its list of “10 Works to Collect at the Seattle Art Fair.” Watson’s work has been covered by publications such as The Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail, NOW Magazine, and House & Home.
