Adrienne Dagg’s 2020 painting, Time Out, has been included in McIntosh Gallery’s digital exhibition, The Space Between, curated by Natalie Scola.
Featuring artwork by Adrienne Dagg, Brian Jones, Sharmistha Kar, Shannon King, Jason McLean, Kim Ondaatje, Jenna Faye Powell, Niloufar Salimi, Kaklu Sagiaktuk, and Gillian Saward, The Space Between explores the home as a place, notion, and feeling, looking to how it has changed in light of the COVID-19 global pandemic.
Time Out, and its corresponding body of work, explores anomie, anxiety, and the inevitable confusion that results from the collapse and breakdown of ideological systems. By placing contemporary female figures in psychological distress within domestic interiors of the 1960’s and 1970’s (the home), Dagg looks to the breakdown of bourgeois ideology in North America and its conflicting attachment to “The Good Life” in an increasingly unsustainable world.
