Field on Fire
"Field on Fire is overt in its nod to climate change. What I mainly wanted to communicate with this painting is that we shouldn’t be worried for Mother Nature, we should be worried for ourselves because she is an unstoppable force, she will be fine long after we are gone. Life will find a way even if it's not human life and that for me is a little bit comforting."
Nguyen's illustrative paintings employ a variety of techniques using oil paint and pastel on a canvas surface. Rife with narrative symbols, her dramatic tableaus sing with chaotic tension and humorous undertones. Painted in jewel tones and highlighted by soft-hued pastels, starkly contrasted by bold gestural markings, Nguyen's works are ready to hang framed or unframed.
