In the Chromatic series, Cole moves in a very different and exciting direction. By going back in history, Cole uses water to reinterpret the meaning of the Colour Field work epitomized by such great painters as Mark Rothko, Helen Frankenthaler, Morris Lewis, Barnett Newman, among others. The artist seeks to challenge the seemingly obvious assumption that water always needs to be blue. Cole views her figures as “paint brushes”, moving them through the frame – weightlessly – their speed determining the level of clarity.

The artist's archival photographs are mounted to an archival substrate. Please contact the gallery regarding availability. Prices are subject to change as the editions sell out.
